Core competency:
Metanomics has pioneered industrial metabolic genomics and operates the largest metabolite profiling platform worldwide with a capacity exceeding 400.000 profiles annually. Statistics, data analysis, interpretation, data management platform and very large gene function data bases are part of this technology. Technology and expertise to correlate e.g. gene expression with metabolite alterations are in place. Extensive expertise in the analysis of plant gene function and in the use of plant biotechnology to develop commercially important crop traits (e.g. yield, enhanced nutritional composition). In addition, Metanomics has an extensive portfolio on metabolite gene function patents and ample experience in filing of large data volume patents.
Contribution to work programme:
Metanomics will contribute as follows: to the development of data warehouses in WP1.3, to the statistical and interpretative integrated analysis of data generated in the project (WP1.3); to the structural elucidation of initially unidentified peaks in Chlamydomonas (WP2.3); and to the phenotypic analysis and metabolite profiling of Arabidopsis plants generated in the context of WP4.
Here we will – in parallel to project partners - test and substantiate hypotheses delivered from Chlamydomonas by comparing crops with the model systems in the dedicated plant cultivation systems at Metanomics, e.g. drought, cold, nitrogen, light. The major contribution of this partner will be to WP4.
